Working Solutions and U.S. Bank Host Green Economy Event

In honor of Black History Month, Working Solutions and U.S. Bank hosted “The Path Forward: A Green Economy in the Black Community,” an event organized by Community Development Manager Anita Russell and Chief Program Officer Titi Ikhile.

Attendees had the opportunity to hear from Lenwood V. Long Sr., CEO of the African American Alliance of CDFI CEOs, who shared about the Justice Climate Fund's mission to ensure that Black and Brown communities benefit equitably from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, and who emphasized the importance of leveraging federal investment to build communities, not just to fund organizations. As we prepare for advancements in the green economy, he reminded us of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s words: "You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step."

Thank you to U.S. Bank for co-sponsoring the event and to our many partners that attended, including the Black Cultural Zone, Chase, City of Antioch, ESO Ventures, ICA Fund, Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce, Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center, San Francisco African American Chamber of Commerce, and more!
