Civil Rights to Silver Rights: Working Solutions Commemorates Juneteenth with Ms. Opal Lee

In honor of Juneteenth, Working Solutions CDFI and Community Development Manager Anita Russell hosted a virtual conversation with two trailblazing leaders—Ms. Opal Lee, the Grandmother of Juneteenth, and Director Tara Lynn Gray of the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA)—about the ongoing fight for racial equity and the Silver Rights movement for economic empowerment.

The Civil Rights movement was birthed out of a need to end discrimination and segregation, especially for the Black community. While the nation is still grappling with the fulfillment of this movement, the Silver Rights movement is a driving force that we must also embrace to move the Black community closer to economic parity.

As a mission-driven small business lender, Working Solutions’ goal is to increase economic opportunity for all communities, and to raise awareness about the urgency to collectively and courageously take action to close the racial wealth gap.
